The U.S. reported just 33,888 new cases of the coronavirus on Monday, the lowest daily tally reported in weeks, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. However, daily case reporting tends to dip early in the week after local public health offices close for the weekend. Across the country, 26 states reported rising cases, on average, by at least 5% compared with a week ago.
The following data was compiled by Johns Hopkins University:
- Global cases: More than 25.5 million
- Global deaths: At least 851,100
- U.S. cases: More than 6.03 million
- U.S. deaths: At least 183,600
