Etisalat showroom in Dubai Mall will replicate itself in the metaverse. The prototype was showcased at the Gitex event, ongoing at the World Trade Centre, Dubai.
According to Abdul Mateen Mavad, Director of Infosys Technologies UAE, the launching of a store in the metaverse and allowing users to virtually shop from it is going to be a huge advancement in terms of technology and resources. The virtual shopping experience can be availed in two ways, using virtual reality as well as touch screen technology.
While explaining the endeavor, Mavad says
Furthermore, Mavad added that one can interact with other customers in the metaverse store just like in real life, thanks to the VR glasses and touchpads. These allow the users to navigate and move around in the store, just like they would in the physical store. The metaverse store also has integrated interactivity by which they can interact with each other.
Adding on accessibility is another noteworthy feature of the project. Once an order is placed on the metaverse, the user will receive a QR code via SMS. Using this QR code, they will be able to collect the purchases from any kiosk in any Etisalat store across the UAE. Importantly, the website project will be available to users in a short time. Moreover, Mateen has stated that Etisalat Stores are discussing rolling out the plan to create a metaverse retail environment. Reportedly, Dubai is taking huge leaps in the metaverse. Also, the emirate has recently hosted a metaverse congress, titled the ‘Dubai Metaverse Assembly’ to explore the multiple dimensions of metaverse.
