The famous Turkish American economist Nouriel Roubini calls out the crypto industry on its political ideology. The conversation started when the founder of Core Finance & Core Ventures, Yagiz Sozmen tweeted a video of Roubini and Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao at the Abu Dhabi Finance Week.
Captioned “Nouriel attacking cz_binance on stage,” the video showcased Roubini describing the crypto ecosystem as “totally corrupt,” stressing on seven Cs of crypto including “concealed, corrupt, crooks, criminals, con men, and carnival barkers.”
He further added “the lesson of the last few weeks is these people should be out of here,” referring to the Binance Founder. Roubini stated:
When Roubini tried to defend himself on the social media platform, the Twitter account Crypto Christ called the economist “a zionist supporting the Kabal.”
As a response, Roubini highlighted the political ideology of the crypto ecosystem. He stated that the first crypto celebrity was Crypto Jesus, who currently has a Twitter following of 14.8k.
In addition, he called out the industry for being full of right-wing white supremacist racist conspiracy freaks, as mentioned in Professor David Columbia’s book The Politics of Bitcoin. The book is a descriptive discussion of how “blockchain technology subscribes to a form of cyberlibertarianism that depends to a surprising extent on far-right political thought.”
