Metaverse Games SpaceY 2025 and Star Atlas are Innovating the Industry

By its very nature, the video game sector has to constantly evolve and seek out the next big thing for its user base. These days, this thing seems to be metaverse games, which have risen in popularity within the gaming universe and have also proven to be profitable ventures outside gaming. Take Roblox, a metaverse gaming platform that was publicly listed in March 2021 and saw its market share surpass $40 billion on its first day.

A look at the metaverse sub-sector of gaming will show two very popular ones, SpaceY 2025 and Star Atlas. In fact, they are both pushing the boundary of what metaverse games can do.

SpaceY 2025 and Star Atlas

SpaceY 2025 is all about humanity’s fictional migration to space and takes place during a settlement mission there. Within the game, players can take on virtual creative roles and help develop an ecosystem for humans on Mars that heavily leveraged NFTs as in-game assets.

Within the game, players can build defences for their homes, collect NFTs, and participate in a number of in-game missions to increase their ranking. New maps are added every month to the game and 80% of the revenue from the game will be added to a prize pool that the top 10% of players will be able to share from.

At the centre of all of this is the ecosystem’s native SPAY token that will be used for voting purposes. With the token (and their in-game assets acting as VP for voting), players can help decide the direction of the game as well as reward-sharing protocols.

Star Atlas, on the other hand, is more concerned with the monetization of virtual spaces. Thus, in-game assets can be converted into legal tender. Furthermore, players can engage in a number of activities for rewards such as construction, mining, oil refinery, and so on.

There is also the opportunity to choose virtual professions within the Star Atlas universe which will provide the players with an income. Therefore, the more dangerous a job the players choose, the higher the rewards will be. Players will also be divided into three camps and attacks/raids will take place fairly frequently.

When starships battle, the winners are able to take and destroy the loot of the losers and if a players’ ship is destroyed, so are all the associated assets. All these assets, including crewmembers, land, equipment, and so on, are represented by NFTs. These NFTs, in conjunction with the two in-game tokens, ATLAS and POLIS, form the in-game economic system.

When players collect items and resources within the game, they can be sold for ATLAS tokens in the decentralized in-game market.

The Trajectory of Metaverse Games

From all indications, the future of the gaming industry will see many more metaverse games enter the market. Some of the reasons for this are the world-building attached to them and the ability to leverage in-game assets.

Games like SpaceY 2025 and Star Atlas show the potential of this sector. Lastly, when this continues, there is little limit to what they can accomplish.
